David F Poole is an artist and filmmaker. His video and installation practice reconsiders the cinema screen & traditional cinematic exhibition methods. Orthodox projection is juxtaposed with irregular non-traditional surfaces to examine the duel definition of “screen”; an object that at once reveals and obscures. The image becomes partially disrupted as a readable entity, yet simultaneously metamorphoses into something uncannily mesmeric. The screen’s presence in the space as an intimidating but beguiling art object challenges our relationship to ubiquitous video screens in our society.
